Boom ba da Boom!

Firstly - apologies that I seem to be perpetually obsessed with the state of being with baby. I'll try to make sure I make equal amounts of posts about writing and other lifely miscellania - however for now back to the babynews!

Went to the surgery for an antenatal check today. MAN MY BABY'S HEART IS LOUD!

  • We deafened two doctors in adjoining consultancy rooms!

  • Someone thought my belly had turned into a boom box...even the midwife said 'My that little one has a strong ticker!'

  • I have a suspicion that when it grows up it may either want to be a drummer in a band or a pneumatic drill operative!

We're nicknaming the child BRAVEHEART now. He or she is certainly that.

P.S. On the writing front - see, there is a writing point to this post - on Thursday BBC Radio Scotland starts it's own - write your own romance novel in a month initiative Write Here, Right Now. I figured since I've been procrastinating such a lot lately - and to save me blogging about more baby stuff - I should take the opportunity to join in and commit to 1000 words a day for Feb. I'm planning to finally nail a semi finished MnB Modern Extra Sensual I already have on the 'puter. Anyone care to join me?? Go on you know you want to... Make February fun... put some bichok in your valentines! More info here...

What I'm Doing

What am I up to? Hum!
Well - I'm proofing my manuscript of Taking The Leap as my editor (there I said it, I said my ed!) wants it next week in final state!
I've also been to a...wait for it...PRAM SHOP. We're talking Krypton Factor with a chassis - it's like car shopping, only more technical - aaargh. Needless to say there's now a v large pile of BROCHURES (ug) sitting in the corner looking ominous. I think I'll just go for colour choice - saves hassle.
And thirdly - I'm growing one of these (see picture inset). A large baby tum. Suddenly it's just 'big'. And I'm bumping it a lot by mistake cos I'm not used to it. I'm not complaining, I know it goes with the territory - and man oh man goodness knows I wished to be in this happy condition for long enough. I'm just finding the tummy protrusion hard to get my head around - maybe I need traffic signs?? Or a light on my naval that beeps and buzzes when I get too close to obstacles...yep, that could work...
I'll get my coat. jx

I've been a rather busy bee lately. Bzzzzz!
Nothing exciting unfortuately. Work minutes to write...jobs to do...tasks to round off in a job handover, admin, tidying, paper pushing, yada yada!! But suffice to say it's paying off. My organisational blitz is clearing and hopefully - this week (God willing) I'm going to be able to write. HURRAH!

Phew! I was beginning to think January 2007 would be gone in a blur of boredom! But I'm living in hope of finally getting to grips with Chapter One of PF. I'm making it my mission! Now time to buzz off again.

Exciting - release date alert!

I've got a release date - TAKING THE LEAP - my first release (Anya and Max's story) will be out at the END OF APRIL published by Moonlit Romance.

How great is that? I'm excited already.

A book in April...a baby in May. 2007 is shaping up spectacularly!

Northern Exposure

Just got back from Inverness - I'd never been before but I can thoroughly recommend it for a city break! Here's a pic of the castle to whet your appetite - the River Ness was churning along nearly fit to burst its banks because of recent rainfall and we even saw a seal rise up to say hi as it bagged a massive salmon for breakfast!! We nearly jumped a mile! And we even had plasma t.v. in the shower (Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard was on while I did my ablutions!) Ah well - back to old clothes and porridge (as my Scots Granny used to say).

Boy or Girl?!?

Yesterday was a special day. My birthday - check! But it was also my much awaited 19 week antenatal baby scan! A doubly special day.

The great news is the baby is doing great and developing well...erm understatement! We just stared at the screen watching it, hardly able to comprehend how much it's grown, the detail that can be seen now - the great big long legs. We just kept saying "This is mad!" especially when the sonographer zoomed right in to the four tiny heart chambers - only word was WOW!

So jellybean's halfway through. Only another 20 weeks to go - then we'll meet the little mite in PERSON! And I don't have to go back to hospital until nearer the time as my future antenatal checks will be done at the surgery.

And if you're wondering about gender...I'm afraid there will be another twenty week wait. We decided it should be a big surprise - and that's just as well. Jellybean was keeping it's modesty intact!!! Boy or girl??? It's a secret that the baby wants to keep to the bitter end.

Jellybean and a Jaunt

Jellybean is getting active. As in very active...as in bumping and kicking and last night it got itself into a bunch in my tum that made me say 'ouch'. It's definitely on the move now and it won't be long until it is kicking properly with a vengeance - so far tiny ones. Though I sense he/she might be a champion kicker when the time comes.

This pregnancy lark is full of thrills and spills for sure - and I'm enjoying every tiny episode.

In other news - later this month I have to work in INVERNESS. As it's my bday next week and as a trip up north could be dodgy if the weather gets tricky hubbie agreed we should stay overnight before the meeting in a hotel. The pics above are the place we've reserved - we're lined up for a four poster bed (I've never been in one before - should be fun with jellybean moving all night!) I'm looking forward to the jaunt even if it is a work related trip. Before I was a mum to a busy, bossy four year old we used to do all this all the time. Tell me - do you think I need to get out more? jx

Currently reading - Jan Jones, Stage by Stage (read it before - but had a hankering to enjoy it all over again!)

Submission Blast Off

Okay I promise this year I won't be a submission whine pants. I won't moan, reminisce over or even dare to mutter about it...today it went out of the door and to Richmond with a lick of stamps and a thump on the plump package it went in. All that's left to say is Adieu.

So instead I will occupy myself with other stuff...

Like the new WIP that's going round in my head (though preferably not at 4.30am like it was last night!!) I just don't need the hassle of writing books at 4am!

Like my current mania for rooting out cupboards - amazing what you find you forgot about and oh but how wholesome it makes you feel once tidy, spic and spruced (manic and deluding myself - moi?) Think of it as displacement therapy.

And finally the fact that dear beloved DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES is again on the telly box tonight...aaaaah bliss. Time to curl up and watch the goggle box - as if I need an excuse! Mike Delfino's in a coma - what trauma! But I bet he'll still look good.

Still Trapped In The Eighties...Moi?

You've Changed 32% in 10 Years

Ah, the past! You may not remember it well - because you're still living in it.

While you've changed some, you may want to update your wardrobe, music collection and circle of friends.

I'm not saying this is true - but let's just say I got a lot of music videos for Xmas that I was watching when I was eighteen.

Welcome to 2007!

Very nice...
Looks like the kind of woman who'd give him lotsa grief...hehehe
A New Year begins! *Jude stretches and inhales deeply - ah the bracing air of possibilities...* I haven't made any resolutions just one writing goal - to keep writing however hard the pregnancy/baby gets. Surely that's realistic? Anyway in my dreams I'd love to write two books this year or alternatively write one new one and refresh/refurbish an oldie - we shall have to see won't we?

In the meantime enjoy this New Year's Day - I'm off to Mother's to devour delicious pie. Isn't that what NY is all about!?!

Here's SB Hero and heroine again. Just because I dig pics of them. I'm basking in the afterglow of BFPO - book final print out. It's a lovely feeling!
